This delicious Bacon and Cheese Bread is the perfect companion for a braai or stew and a winner on it’s own!
10 g instant yeast
15 g honey
300 ml luke warm water
500 g flour
15 g salt
200 g cheese (mixture of Parmesan, blue, Fontana etc.)
5 slices of bacon chopped
Lots of basil leaves, chopped
Sift the flour and salt together.
Mix the honey and water.
Add the yeast to the flour and add the water to make a moist dough.
Add the cheese, eggs, bacon and basil leaves and knead well. Leave to prove until double in size.
Knock back and shape into a loaf bread. Let prove again.
Glaze with egg-wash and bake at 180 °C for about 40 minutes.
