Bread Pudding Recipe

This dessert is perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon delight without much effort. Serve up with delicious cream liqueur and vanilla ice cream and you will have a winner on your hands!

Ingredients

  • 30 ml salted butter
  • 10 white bread slices — crusts removed (or brown bread if preferred)
  • 30 ml smooth apricot jam
  • 250 ml cream
  • 125 ml cream liqueur (like amarula)
  • 30 ml brown sugar
  • 5 ml vanilla essence
  • 2 eggs

Method

Preparing the pudding

Making the Pudding:

  1.  Pre-heat the oven to 180°C and butter a 25cm round baking dish
  2. Spread the butter over each of the bread slices
  3. Spread the apricot jam on top
  4. Cut each slice into 3 batons
  5. Arrange the bread in the buttered dish
  6. Combine the cream, cream liqueur, sugar, vanilla and eggs and whisk until smooth
  7. Pour it over the bread and bake, 25-30 mins until golden
  8. Serve the pudding warm topped with delicious vanilla ice cream
